Eric Adams is best known for the recently completed, creator-owned comic series, LACKLUSTER WORLD – a satire about a man with albinism fending off his fanatically religious siblings while using vandalism and his journalism career to change his ‘lackluster world’. It has been nominated for the 2004 Howard E Day Prize, the 2008, 2010, and 2012 S.P.A.C.E. Prize and won the 2010 Champion City award for Best Limited Series.

He is also the writer of REFLECTION, a 2009 S.P.A.C.E. Prize winner; the artist of STUART, which ran in NEGATIVE BURN; and a contributor to Newsarama.com, writing SEQUENTIAL SMARTS, a thorough series of articles about the business and marketing comics from the self-publisher perspective.

Matthew DurfeeMatthew Durfee
Local freelance artist, Avid vintage video game hunter, and general dork/geek enthusiast. Ben Durfee has been creating artwork based on all of his nerdy interests since he was boy, drawing his favorite comic book heroes and drawing wizards, dragons, and other staples of the fantasy genre. He has degree in Media Arts and Animation and enjoys doing all kinds of different art forms ranging from 3d modeling/texturing, video editing, web design to graphic illustrations. Always on the lookout to add a new game to his collection, he constantly visits flea markets and yard sales. Since the age of five Ben has been a huge Star Wars fan, seeing the original movies more times than he can count, building a collection of memorabilia, and playing several of the CCG games produced. ElectroMagnetic Press (EMP) is a comic book publishing company based in West Virginia and New York. After tinkering with the slacker comic The Fairmont Five in the nineties, head writer Larry Morgan and illustrator Shane Moore decided to work together again under the EMP banner. Sean Forney- is a professional illustrator/comic book artist currently working on colors for a few comic projects to be announced soon. Todd is an artist reigning from the Tri-State area. Tim FullerTim Fuller
Tim Fuller began self-publishing his cartoons in Hooha Comics in 1978. He contributed the series “The Blue Beagle,” to Fantagraphics’ Critters and “Cap’n Catnip” to Charlton Bullseye. Tim created countless strips and cartoons for various fanzines, mini comics and magazines, including The Comic Buyers Guide and Starlog.

In 2006, after a self-imposed exile from making comics, Tim began actively creating and publishing his cartoons again. He collected his various “Blue Beagle” stories into a book. In 2009 he began assembling a Cincinnati-based anthology, deliciously titled “Twelve-Way with Cheese.” The collaborative effort brought together a dozen like-minded artists who branded themselves The Zombie Marge Comix Group. Tim’s ongoing projects include SHAM Comics, his rewritten golden age stories, a “Zombie Marge” webcomic, and new HooHa Comics, like The Adventures of Cap’n Catnip.

Rodney FykeRodney Fyke
For more than twenty years Rodney has worked on and off in the comics industry. From being a co-creator and writer in the 90’s of the independent superhero team Superior Seven to currently working full-time as the creator, writer, artist, inker and colorist for his self-published comic book Peanut, Puddin’ n’ Jelly and his weekly web-comic Hard and Soft Taco.  Both titles are published through Hazzum Productions which he helped to co-found with Tina McElhinney in 2010.

Rodney’s is currently working on the follow-up to the first four issues of PP&J with three individual stories, one for each character, that will allow readers to meet the kids behind the caps and masks.   Readers of all ages love the gang’s jaunts into childhood tomfoolery and the fact that PPn’J is completely hand colored with colored pencils.  This gives the book a look not often seen in the age of digital coloring. When not working tirelessly on PPn’J he continues the wacky travels of Hard and Soft Taco, his two amateur wrestlers that are traveling across the country taking on opponents in hopes that they can one day make it to the Pros.  In his free time, Rodney also does commissions, posters and sketch cards, which he sells at cons and online as well as works as a freelance inker and colorist.

Born and raised in Point Pleasant, WV, it was natural for Gary Gibeaut to draw the legendary Mothman. After meeting Mothman Museum curator and author, Jeff Wamsley, Gary was hired to do artwork for tee shirts and merchandise. Gary’s work has also appeared in Mr. Wamsley’s book, “Mothman; Behind the Red Eyes” and on an episode of SciFi Investigates. Gary is currently writing and drawing for “Five Star Comics”. G-Raver is a talented wrestler from Philadelphia, PA. In his career he has held the RWA World and Cruiserweight titles and is the current VOW and RWA Tag Champion with partner, Gory. Brandon has teamed with Broken Icon Comics to produce a comic based on his wrestling persona turned creature hunter called G-Raver. Tricon is the debut for the special editions.

James HarrisJames “RonkyTonk” Harris
James Harris is a West Virginia based illustrator. He has a long history in local arts and music, representing bands and music venues, as well as comic strips for newspapers and zines. Douglas (DJ) Hufford is an artist/writer born in 1976. Raised by an American Father and a British Mother, he has tried to incorporate a blend of American/European style into all of his creative work. His first national published work was in a poetry compilation at the age of ten.  He studied art at the Fort Hayes Vocational Center and spent brief time at the Columbus College of Art and Design. He again received national attention for his work in movie reviews at the now defunct Bumscorner.com. He is the award winning writer of Yuri the Comic and is currently working on new projects for Duskbunnies.

Natasha Collier is a historian and blogger of popular culture originally from Eastern Kentucky. She began Kentucky Geek Girl as an outlet for discussion of gaming, but quickly expanded to a home for all types of geekery. A graduate of Transylvania University, she used her interest in popular culture in her research, writing about topics such as “Star Trek and Anthropology” and “X-Men and the Civil Rights Movement.” She enjoys examining the fusion of history and popular culture. Most recently, she moderated a panel on Doctor Who at Lexington Comic and Toy Convention.

Natasha is an avid gamer who enjoys role playing games, board games, MMOs such as World of Warcraft, all of which she discusses on her blog. Natasha also likes to discuss her interests in music, movies, books, and television. She is a Whovian, lifelong fan of Star Trek, and obsesses daily over Benedict Cumberbatch.

Jordan Lowe is a comic shop owner from Marietta, Ohio.  He opened his store more to meet fellow comic creators than to make a sustainable, dignified living.  Luckily, the gambit paid off and he has befriended and worked with a number of very talented collaborators both local and not-so-local.  He writes the long-running web comic “Short Pants Romance,” about a former kid sidekick whose best days are behind him, stumbling through his twenties.  He is also the co-creator of the mockumentary web series about life in a small town comic book store, “Running the Asylum,” and a founding member of the Ohio Valley Artists League, editing their annual “OVAL Presents” anthology.  With “Stuck,” his first full-length graphic novel, he joins the ever-expanding stable of talent at Broken Icon. Seth Lyons is a professional graphic artist located in Lewis Center, Ohio. He has illustrated comics for local publishing companies; working on “Stiletto Heights” and Twilight Star Studios “The Unnaturals”. Through Packrat Comics, he also produced his own book, “Abnormal Bureau of Invetigationin 2011. Runespinner StudiosRunespinner Studios
Cobalt-Blue was born in Central Alabama. He did his undergraduate work at Berea College and Morehead State University and his graduate work online with American Intercontinental University. He is married with two sons and serves as Gothi for the Gamalfellheim (Old Mountain Home) Kindred located in Northeastern Kentucky. In the past he has served as the Gothi for Mimirstein Kindred, and as Memory Keeper for Gamalstein Kindred.

He has written for Caliber Comics (Level X: Next Level of Dreaming, under his given name), Combo Magazine (Under his given name), and Atlanta Outworlders (Dragoncon). His fanfiction has won awards as textbooks on how to write cliffhangers, for which he credits his work as a writer in the comic industry.

His works tend to center around fantasy, horror, and scifi with a strong leaning toward superheroes. His Atlantis Unleashed Universe deals with a world where the UN is out of control, and transhumans fight for the right to just survive. The Cadre 5 Universe deals with neohumans on an Earth where the ancient Gods have returned to uplift man to divine status. The Kindred series is a teen horror/romance series set in the tri-state area about a group of gifted teens from an Heathen Kindred dealing with supernatural threats.

Werecats, dragons, werewolves, vampires, and superheroes abound in his writing. There is a heavy influence of Northern Heathenism, and what he calls James T. Kirk libertarianism in his writing. His writing influences include Gene Roddenberry, J. Michael Straczynski, Chris Claremont, and Diane Duane.

Joseph Schmalke is the artist and writer of the Calamitous Black Devils and the Infernal Pact. He graduated magna cum laude with a BFA from the University of Massachusetts, Boston and currently resides in Westbrook, Maine with his wife and daughters.

His work has appeared in Wicked Hawt Magazine and art shows throughout the New England area. A lifelong lover of comic books and horror, he got his start working as a tattoo artist in New Orleans. He has worked as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer for almost thirteen years, creating comic strips, concert posters and album covers (among other things).

The team is made up of guys and gals from across the state and all have joined together to help raise funds for the Children’s Home Society of WV and the American Heart Association while keeping the state safe from ghosts, ghouls and specters.
