The 2013 Tri-State Comic Con will feature a costume contest that calls all the cosplay geniuses in the area to show their stuff! We are offering a cash prize for the first place winner and a prize package donated by our exhibitors and sponsors to give to the runner up.

There will be three winners; Judges pick, Promoters pick and Kids winner.

Rules and Regulations:

Registration for the 2013 Tricon Costume Contest is from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 6th. There will be a maximum of 50 entries. Entries are taken on a first come, first served basis.

To register, the contestant (or one representative for group contestants) will be required to fill out the Entry Form either in person or ahead of time using this PDF. For group entries, submit only one entry form per group.

Contestants aged 13 and under are welcome to compete, but they must have a parent or legal guardian present at registration to sign their consent and must be accompanied by one legal guardian or relative who is aged 18+ for the entirety of the costume contest.

Group entries are limited to a maximum of six persons. No Exceptions!

All costumes must be tasteful. The minimum coverage that will be allowed in the contest is a bikini. The judgment of what is acceptable is the sole discretion of the Tricon staff.

All contestants must be able to get on and off the stage safely. If you need help getting on or off stage because of your costume, you may have one handler with you. This must be pre-approved at registration and the name of your handler must be written on your Entry Form.

Weapons: Non-firing toys or prop weapons will be allowed at the discretion of the Tricon costume contest staff. Be considerate and non-threatening with your props (aka, use common sense in your presentation). All prop weapons must be demonstrated to be non-functioning prior to the costume contest. “Live” or functioning weapons are not allowed in the costume contest. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE RULES WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION AND/OR EVICTION FROM THE ARENA.

You may not run, jump or perform acrobatics either on or off stage. If you fail to adhere to these rules, you will be automatically disqualified, also any injuries resulting from poor conduct will be the responsibility of the contestant in question.

Costume Credit: All costumes must be made by the contestant(s) or credited to the appropriate creator(s). Purchased costumes may make up a maximum of 60% of the costumes. Contestants with more than 60% of purchased costuming CANNOT win.

Do not surprise the Tricon staff or the announcer. Let us know about anything that may the audience off guard before the contest.

Judging of the Costume Contest will be based on originality, craftsmanship and personality.

Previous winners are exempt from entering the contest the year following their win.

Prizes: (each division)

One “Grand Prize” cash prize will be award to the winning entry (individual or group)
